As you may see in my gallery I am a photo-manipulator, so I use stock from stock providers on DA. Now I don't want to make anyone angry and I won't be naming names here but there are certain things I come across either frequently or rarely (but those rare things are quite huge) that tend to anger or disappoint me about stock on DA. Now some of you may say "well go to other sites for your stock" I can but every now and then some big time artist comes out with a journal saying how the stock they bought or downloaded from an exterior site wasn't the providers stock but was actually stolen from someone else, and that kinda freaks me out. I tend to be quite used to using stock on DA and that familiarity also makes me feel safe using it from here.. so yea.. here are my pet peeves with stock providers..
1. Wrinkled clothing.
Too much overdone "goth" stock. I've actually started to unwatch stock artists that keep doing photoshoots with black gowns all the time cause it's getting repetitive and annoying. 3.
No facial expressions. There have been some big time stock artists on here that have amazing costumes but their face never changes no matter what character/creature they are trying to portray and it's frustrating.4.
Lack of men in stock. Where are the highlanders in kilts? where are the counts? the tall, dark and handsome prince's or sorcerers? Men.. where the hell are you?? We all know that sex sells, so why are there barely any good looking guys as stock nowhere to be found?? We need some masculine sexyness on DA.. please!5.
Far away shots of people that can't even be used really. 6.
Lack of different angles with models, objects, etc. 7.
Being allowed to sell our art on DA but not on other sites? (like that makes sense)8.
Going to search for male stock and running into dicks. Does anyone even use those in their art?9.
People trying to come across certain characters (vampires, demons, etc.) while wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I see no point in selling an idea that isn't even believable. 10.
I tend to be quite an organized person, so when I started to watch someone I uncheck their deviations cause I tend to like to go through their entire gallery first so I can fave their old work before I start to get their new work in my message center. So once I go through their entire gallery, I then check the box for deviations so their new stuff can start coming in. Now, let me tell you... one of the rarest yet BIGGEST pet peeves I have with stock providers is those galleries of like 10,000 images. Do you know how long that shit would take? Do you not know you can shorten that down with things like packages?
So there it is, my current top 10 stock pet peeves. To whoever does read my journal, I hope you enjoyed and if you're a stock provider, then maybe these 10 things can help you stray away from making mistakes or can inspire you to submit something that hasn't been done before. Either way, you're welcome
Til next time fellow silent watchers...
